Art in the Park

About this event

Art in the Park, an annual celebration of art and nature, is growing this year adding more artists, vendors, and activities. Caddo Parish Parks and Recreation Department is hosting the event at the all new Walter B Jacobs Nature Center on Saturday, November 7 from noon to 4:00pm. Visitors are invited to enjoy art, music, and food in a beautiful autumn forest. Art in the Park features more than 50 local and regional artists who find inspiration in nature and either depict nature in their work or use natural materials as their medium. Visitors will find a wide variety of art for sale from paintings and photography to stone tools and pottery. Artists provide live demonstrations throughout the event in flintknapping, pottery throwing, pine-needle basket weaving, painting, needle-felting, and more. Several local arts and nature organizations including Shreve Memorial Library, Sciport Discovery Center, Shreveport Aquarium, Volunteer Naturalists of Walter B. Jacobs Memorial Nature Park, Red River National Wildlife Refuge and Shreveport Regional Arts Council will lead hands-on art activities for all ages. Sr Park Naturalist Hulya Onel will lead her popular painting workshops for older youth and adults. Live entertainment and Food trucks. Admission and all activities are free.
