  • Dry conditions in the ArkLaTex have led local parishes to issue burn bans to minimize wildfire risk. A grass fire near southwest Shreveport threatened homes recently, and officials advise residents to exercise caution + follow safety guidelines.  KSLA

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A parish-wide burn ban went into effect on Jan. 2 at 8 a.m. in Caddo Parish due to arid conditions+ residents are advised to call 911 if they see smoke or an unattended fire.  Shreveport Times
  • A burn ban took effect Friday in Caddo after record-high temperatures and dry conditions raised fire risks - a weak cold front is lowering Saturday’s highs to mid-60s as officials say measurable rain is needed to lift the ban.  The Shreveport-Bossier City Advocate
