- ➤ Crawfish season is set to ramp up amid Mardi Gras celebrations in Shreveport after diners visited The Crabby Crawfish on Youree Drive Monday morning. LSU AgCenter experts predict a normal season with extra supply compared to recent years (dry spells were less severe than the 2023 drought). KTBS

- ➤ Data from Atlas Van Lines shows that 66% of shipments leaving Louisiana from Nov. 1, 2024 to Oct. 31, 2025 indicates the state ranks highest in outbound moves—losing about 70,000 residents between 2020 and 2024 due to safety and economic concerns. Shreveport Times

- ➤ On Monday, Jan. 5, the Southern University Board of Supervisors launched the search for the system’s next president by naming a 15-member committee that includes Caddo Parish DA James Stewart. - ➤ Yesterday, the Caddo Commission rejected two resolutions for data center development, one to study the former George Washington Carver School site and one to authorize a study trip to Tennessee (9-3 and 10-2 votes). - ➤ Officials in Caddo and Bossier have imposed a parish-wide burn ban because dry weather and high fire risk persist. Effective Jan. 2, the bans prohibit outdoor burning and fireworks until rain eases the dangerous conditions. Shreveport Bossier Journal
