  • Shreve Memorial Library invites residents to add it to their New Year's resolutions so they can enjoy free resources, from a wide selection of books to hands-on workshops (including painting and coding). The library spans 21 branches with services designed to help readers, learners and hobbyists pursue new interests.  Shreveport Times
  • Mary Springhill A.M.E. Church offered free meals today in Shreveport, serving chicken soup, cornbread + drinks to neighbors as part of its ongoing effort to address food insecurity.  KTBS
  • America 250 is marking the nation's 250th anniversary by urging volunteerism. Chair Rosie Rios said 250 registrants will share a $1 million award (each will donate $4,000 to a charity) when they sign up online.  KTBS

  • Maya Trutschl, a senior at Caddo Parish Magnet High School, was named one of the Top 300 Regeneron Science Talent Search 2026 Scholars for her research in machine learning and health care innovation, earning national recognition and a scholarship award.  The Shreveport-Bossier City Advocate

SPORTS NEWS

  • Caddo Magnet defeated Calvary Baptist Academy 1-0 on Saturday, Jan. 10 at Lee Hedges Stadium in Shreveport. The closely contested match saw both teams making strong defensive plays to secure the win.  The Shreveport-Bossier City Advocate
  • Five Iron Golf brings a winter indoor golf experience with lessons, club fittings and over 200 simulated courses for local players. The venue offers weekday happy hour specials from 3-6 p.m. starting Jan. 10 + groups can join indoor golf leagues for additional practice.  Shreveport Times
