- ➤ The Krewe of Centaur held a King Cakes and Cocktails fundraiser Thursday evening in Shreveport to support Geaux4Kids, which gives Geaux Bags to children in crisis. The nonprofit has given over 24,000 bags since 2013 + its work is funded by grants and donations. KTBS
- ➤ Mystic Krewe of Imani held a Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service resource fair — a local event linking residents with volunteer opportunities and community support. KSLA
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Louisiana regulators approved Meta's financing plan for its Richland Parish data center but nonprofit groups worry that the revised structure (allowing a four-year early exit) may raise electricity bills. - ➤ The local Krewe of Sobek is loading floats ahead of Saturday’s Mardi Gras parade while celebrating Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s 97th birthday. The float loading party marks a festive kickoff to the season. KSLA
- ➤ SRAC released a statement on Jan. 15 responding to concerns raised at its Jan. 8 AI Forum held at the Municipal Auditorium. The statement promises a review of AI policies to protect local artists & guide future programs. Shreveport Times

- ➤ 50 Cent’s G-Dome project in downtown Shreveport is awaiting zoning approval from the Zoning Board of Appeals because its circular design and taller structure differ from current guidelines. It is part of a $74 million revitalization plan, and the board will decide on Jan. 21. KSLA
- ➤ Shreveport Regional Airport is planning a major upgrade to boost safety and support growth with a new air traffic control tower on the west side and terminal expansion adding four gates — part of a $30 million project that secured $7.7 million in funding while awaiting extra FAA grant approval. - ➤ Sci-Port Discovery Center opened a new interactive medical exhibit today at 2 p.m. with a ribbon cutting ceremony in partnership with Ochsner LSU Health; the display offers hands-on experiences in neurology, cardiology, radiology and sports medicine. KSLA
