  • Due to an approaching ice storm, the Krewe of Centaur rescheduled its Grand Bal to Feb. 5 at the Shreveport Convention Center. Doors open at 5 p.m. (tableaux start at 7:30 p.m.), and existing tickets will be honored.  The Shreveport-Bossier City Advocate

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Neu Aviation, a flight school in Shreveport, was named Best Flight School in the Central Southern Region by AOPA after student surveys and expert review. It will travel to Lakeland, FL, on March 4 to attend the award ceremony and mark this milestone.  Shreveport's Secrets

  • Caddo Parish officials held a briefing to advise residents on winter storm safety (with preparations needed by Friday night) as severe weather is forecast for this weekend.  KSLA

  • Will Achee broke two NSU track records this weekend at the Corky Classic in Lubbock, Texas; he clocked 46.84 seconds in the 400-meter dash and led a 4x400 relay to a record 3:08.13, earning Southland Conference Athlete of the Week.
