- ➤ After a winter storm left thousands without power, community lighthouses at Morning Star Baptist Church and Church of the Highlands now provide power, food and shelter – they are open today from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to help residents amid icy road conditions. KSLA
- ➤ Community lighthouses in Shreveport provided shelter and essentials (food and warm supplies) during the winter storm as crews worked to clear icy roads while officials urged residents to stay indoors. KSLA
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ After Winter Storm Fern's freezing rain on Sunday, over 15,700 customers in Caddo Parish lost power and more faced outages statewide; SWEPCO will monitor the system overnight as crews prepare for a possible increase in outages. The Shreveport-Bossier City Advocate
- ➤ Ice and snow have created hazardous driving conditions across North Louisiana as DOTD closed several highways and ramps in Bossier, Caddo, Catahoula, Ouachita, and Rapides parishes; crews continue applying brine to bridges and overpasses to improve safety. Shreveport Times
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ SporTran Transit has cancelled Monday's fixed-route and OnDemand services in Shreveport due to hazardous road conditions and lingering ice. Limited OnDemand service for critical trips will resume Tuesday at 1 p.m. if roads improve, and full schedules are expected to return Wednesday. KTBS
- ➤ Shreveport Water and Sewerage advises residents and businesses to monitor plumbing and turn off dripping faucets after the freeze has passed so water is conserved and damage prevented.
