- ➤ On Feb. 3, state treasurer John Fleming delivered Louisiana’s largest-ever unclaimed property check for $320,706.21 to Shreveport native James Willett in Logansport and issued a $79,982.26 check for his son while reminding residents that $1.2 billion in unclaimed assets awaits claim. KSLA
- ➤ Caddo Commissioner Chris Kracman said his proposal to temporarily restrict large-scale water withdrawals from Caddo Lake was not discussed Monday, Feb. 5, and he may seek a study or bring the issue to state legislators in Baton Rouge if no local action is taken. Shreveport Times
- ➤ Officials extended extra federal funds to help with recovery after Winter Storm Fern hit North Louisiana last month. Small businesses can apply for 4% disaster loans by Nov. 2, and SNAP recipients in select parishes (Caldwell, DeSoto, East Carroll, Jackson, Ouachita, Red River, Richland, West Carroll) will receive an extra 20% benefit.
