ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Louisiana’s jobless claims dropped to 1,107 for the week ending Jan. 31 from 1,400 the week before, the Labor Department reported Thursday. In contrast, nationwide claims rose to 231,000 from 209,000. Shreveport Times

- ➤ Local libraries will celebrate three science days (Feb. 11) including Be Electrific Day that promotes STEM learning, National Inventors’ Day honoring Thomas Edison, and International Day of Women and Girls in Science. - ➤ Shreve Memorial Library is offering a summer internship for high school students 16+ that begins May 29 until July 23, paying $10 an hour for up to 20 hours weekly at all branches—applications are open until Feb. 22 and require a 2.0 GPA. Shreveport Times

- ➤ Realtor.com data shows Caddo Parish home prices fell 1% in November, with the median dropping to $193,000 from $195,000 in October. Single-family homes rose to $199,000—condo and townhome prices plunged and recorded sales fell 13% from last November. Shreveport Times
