- ➤ Ronald Fagan, a longtime veteran and local actor, passed away Jan. 29 with his family by his side. - ➤ Lucky Palace has moved from its longtime spot on Diamond Jacks Boulevard to a new home inside Louisiana Downs at 8000 East Texas Street in Bossier City. The restaurant closes on Mondays and Tuesdays but continues to serve Chinese dishes and its popular beef-on-a-stick appetizer. Shreveport Bossier Journal
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Act 479 now requires a camera in every self-contained special ed classroom in Louisiana; footage will only be reviewed after an incident or a parent's request. Parents should act quickly because recordings are kept for just 30 days. Shreveport Bossier Journal
- ➤ Northwestern State University enrolled 7,762 students for Spring 2026 (6,913 undergraduates and 849 graduate students) across campuses in Natchitoches, Alexandria, Leesville/Fort Polk, Barksdale AFB and online sectors. - ➤ Caddo Parish Sheriff Henry Whitehorn Sr. and Janet Miller signed an MoU with CADA on Feb. 8 to expand crisis support services for those facing mental health and substance use challenges (CADA’s Crisis Mobile Response Team may join deputies when needed), aiming to boost access to care. - ➤ Town officials lifted the boil water advisory for the Blanchard Water System on Monday after health tests confirmed the water is safe to drink. Officials advise residents to flush their plumbing by running cold water for several minutes. KTBS

- ➤ LSUS Pilots ended their 65-game winning streak Friday at a tournament in Sterlington and finished the weekend 2-2.
