  • Colleen Hamm, a lifelong Shreveport resident, celebrated her 100th birthday at Azalea Estates Assisted Living today. Neighbors and staff joined the celebration, marking a memorable milestone in the community.  KSLA
  • Krewe of Gemini held a float loading party this morning in Shreveport to kick off parade weekend—community members watched as floats were loaded and vendors set up displays.  KSLA
  • Construction on Knight Street — between South Pointe Parkway and Preston Avenue — has continued for over a year, squeezing traffic to a single lane and causing delays for local residents. Neighbors worry about being blocked in during the Krewe parade as workers lay new pavement today.  KTBS

CULTURE NEWS

  • Today, Shreveport hosts the final Mardi Gras parade as the Krewe of Gemini kicks off at 1 p.m. downtown—while the Krewe of Highland will follow at 2 p.m. tomorrow in Highland Historic District.  Shreveport Times
  • Friday night, the Night to Shine prom at Cypress Baptist Church celebrated people with special needs with a red carpet arrival and dancing while makeup artists and volunteers ensured the guests felt honored. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Mooringsport City Council passed a resolution on Feb. 13 halting new industrial water withdrawals from Caddo Lake until studies show no long-term ecological harm — a measure that supports reviewing the current lease with Blanchard.
