  • Sheriff Safety Town is hosting exhibits that teach fire safety for adults amid a dry wintry season that has raised house fire risks. Jeff Witte, the local Fire Prevention Officer, shared practical tips+tricks on KTBS 3 to help residents protect their homes.  KTBS
  • The Mardi Gras Fun Day event offered children essential safety tips as local law enforcement from the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office engaged the community. Participants enjoyed interactive displays that made safety learning fun and informative.  KSLA

  • BeauxJax Crafthouse, a Cajun restaurant growing from a 2015 food truck, now anchors the East Bank revitalization of Old Barksdale Boulevard.   • Zumper data shows Shreveport apartment rents rose in January, with the median price reaching $1,074 compared to last month's $1,000 and last year's $1,033. One-bedroom apartments dropped to $780 while two-bedroom rentals held at $900, keeping rents below state and national medians.  Shreveport Times

  • Girls soccer quarterfinals are underway today as Benton hosts Northshore at 1:30 p.m., Loyola hosts Isadore Newman and Calvary plays on the road at Hammond at 4 p.m., and Magnet welcomes St. Thomas More at 6 p.m. Byrd will face St. Joseph’s Academy Tuesday.  Shreveport Bossier Journal
  • Fifteen Shreveport-area girls basketball teams qualified for the LHSAA playoffs with Parkway, Haughton, Mansfield and Logansport hosting first-round games as Captain Shreve and Huntington earn byes to host second-round matchups.  The Shreveport-Bossier City Advocate
  • LSUS baseball ended its 65-game win streak on Feb. 6 at the Cajun Collision in Sterlington with a 4-3 loss to No. 25 Central Methodist. The team of 28 newcomers swept a series in Shreveport and will begin Red River Athletic Conference play Friday.  The Shreveport-Bossier City Advocate
  • Shreveport native David Toms won Sunday’s Chubb Classic — held at Tiburon Black Course in Naples, Fla. — with a clutch tap-in birdie that earned him his fifth Champions Tour title and a $270,000 prize.  Shreveport Bossier Journal
  • Sam Burns posted high on the leaderboard last Sunday at Pebble Beach but ended sixth with a score of 19-under par. The Shreveport native earned $690,000 and will head to Los Angeles next weekend for the Genesis Open (his next Tour event).  Shreveport Bossier Journal
