COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Shreveport Police Chief Smith led the Committee of 100 on Feb. 20 on a tour of local businesses along Monkhouse Drive to showcase revitalization efforts. The initiative (work remains) involves public, business, and community partners who plan further improvements in the coming months.  Shreveport Bossier Journal

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Isabella CPA & Advisory held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Feb. 19 to open in Shreveport, and the firm now offers accounting and advisory services to local residents and businesses.  Shreveport Bossier Journal

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Gov. Jeff Landry announced that three Amazon data centers will be built in Northwest Louisiana — in Shreveport, Caddo Parish near Blanchard and Bossier Parish near Benton. Construction will begin in the first half of this year, and each site will hire 150 permanent employees.  The Shreveport-Bossier City Advocate

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Caddo Parish was placed under a burn ban Monday due to severe drought conditions as the National Weather Service upgraded fire risks. Parish officials will keep residents informed as weather conditions change.  KTBS

SPORTS NEWS

  • Local LHSAA playoffs ended Saturday when Benton and Calvary girls lost 3-0 on the road and Loyola boys fell at home in a 6-2 game (a close contest despite a misleading final score). The 2026-27 season starts today for all teams after strong playoff runs.  Shreveport Bossier Journal
  • Prep softball week 2 in the Shreveport area started Monday, Feb. 23 with Northwood at Glenbrook and continues today with Neville visiting North DeSoto, followed by additional games scheduled Wednesday through Friday.  The Shreveport-Bossier City Advocate
  • Six local girls basketball teams are set to play in the LHSAA second-round playoffs tonight, with Huntington hosting Woodlawn and Captain Shreve hosting Archbishop Chapelle at tip-off times including 5:30 p.m. Plain Dealing will travel to Arcadia.  Shreveport Bossier Journal
