BUSINESS NEWS

  • Louisiana Economic Development announced plans to build three AI data center campuses in Caddo, Bossier, West Feliciana and Richland Parishes. The projects, valued at up to $12 billion, will demand large supplies of water, energy and land and are set to boost local tech infrastructure.  Shreveport Times
  • Delta Utilities explained its plan for levelized billing at a Public Service Commission session on Feb. 25 + a measure designed to reduce price swings + amid rising customer concerns. CEO Timothy Poche said the utility is working to protect ratepayers from high natural gas costs.  The Shreveport-Bossier City Advocate

ECONOMY NEWS

  • LSU Shreveport economist Doug White said that in 2025, casino revenue increased to over $607 million with a nearly 16% surge in the fourth quarter and Shreveport Regional Airport recorded its busiest year since 1980 with over 800,000 passengers, pointing to local economic strength (despite worries over rising costs).  KTBS

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • DCFS is streamlining its foster programs to recruit more families and raise reimbursement rates by offering improved support plus reducing paperwork. Officials plan to certify 1,100 new homes and reactivate 200 by Dec. 31 to narrow the current gap of 48 homes per 100 children.  The Shreveport-Bossier City Advocate
  • Delta Utilities explained its levelized billing plan to help manage soaring natural gas bills during a Louisiana Public Service Commission session on Wednesday, Feb. 25. LPSC commissioners were present to address concerns from customers and local officials.  The Shreveport-Bossier City Advocate
  • Gov. Jeff Landry and revenue officials signed tax laws on Wednesday that lowered income tax to 3% and cut corporate taxes to 5.5%, saving families about $500 and workers $261. He is pushing two May amendments — to eliminate the inventory tax, reduce retirement debt and raise teacher pay.  KTBS
  • On Wednesday, Feb. 25, Delta Utilities met with state regulators to explain how levelized billing might ease soaring natural gas bills amid customer concerns, while Entergy officials including VP Larry Hand & Assistant General Counsel D.
