  • Boyd Gaming announced it will sell its local casino, Sam’s Town Shreveport, to Bally’s Corporation; the deal is set to close in the third quarter + the sale highlights a commitment to reinvesting in the community + transaction details remain undisclosed.  KSLA
  • Eligible small businesses and private nonprofits in North Louisiana (covering 19 parishes) affected by Winter Storm Fern from Jan. 23-25 can apply for low-interest disaster loans up to $2 million from the SBA, with applications due by Nov. 2.  Shreveport Times

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Akston, a biotechnology company focused on animal health, opened a new manufacturing facility at BRF’s InterTech Park in Shreveport as part of a $7 million expansion that began in July 2025. The project is expected to add 69 direct jobs and 93 indirect roles and will begin commercial operations soon.  Shreveport Bossier Journal

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Caddo and Bossier school districts released the names of 14 National Merit Scholarship Finalists — 12 from Caddo and 2 from Bossier — who join around 15,000 top achievers nationally, with winners to be announced in April.  The Shreveport-Bossier City Advocate
  • Today eight LSUS students won 10 ADDY awards at the American Advertising Awards in Shreveport-Bossier (Milan Bolden earned Best of Show for his movie poster 'Deceptive Colors') while peers received additional gold and silver honors from local industry judges.  Shreveport Bossier Journal

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A Ramboll noise model predicts the data center north of Benton will produce 45 decibels of sound at its closest point, with lower noise levels at night meeting Bossier Parish ordinances. Further studies will verify measurements once the facility is operational.  KSLA

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The 13th Annual State of Black Shreveport Symposium + Economic Summit is set for today from 1 to 2 p.m. at Morning Star Baptist Church at 5340 Jewella Ave and will feature mayoral candidates Tom Arceneaux+Michael Mays+Commissioner Young+State Rep. Phelps discussing challenges in the Black community.  KTBS

SPORTS NEWS

  • Multiple local high school teams are competing in the LHSAA boys basketball playoffs tonight — Captain Shreve, Huntington, Green Oaks and North Caddo host games at 6:30 and 6:00 p.m. at their home courts.  Shreveport Bossier Journal
  • Huntington beat Alexandria Senior High 68-45 in a girls basketball quarterfinal on Thursday. The win earned the Lady Raiders their third straight state semifinal berth and a rematch with top-seeded John Curtis next Thursday at 2:45 in Hammond — while Captain Shreve fell 59-37 in River Ridge.  Shreveport Bossier Journal
  • Adam Hester is building a high school athletic program at Providence Classical Academy in Bossier City, shifting from MAIS to LHSAA and overcoming coach departures.
