EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Criminal justice programs in local colleges are growing as students show more interest in courses that blend crime show appeal with technology-based forensics and hands-on learning. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Louisiana Department of Transportation will close the LA 169 bridge over Walnut Bayou near Mooringsport from Monday, March 9 until Friday, March 13 for repairs to the bridge pilings — motorists must use alternate routes and drive with caution around the construction zone. - ➤ Intermittent lane closures began Tuesday, Mar. 3 on Arthur Ray Teague Parkway at the Jimmie Davis Bridge in Bossier City for 15 to 20 minute intervals (in both directions) to move project equipment. The closures will continue throughout March, and a new bridge is expected to complete mid-late 2027. Shreveport Bossier Journal
- ➤ A study has listed Shreveport among 15 vulnerable cities due to its close proximity to Barksdale Air Force Base (B-52 bomber base) amid escalating military actions after a U.S.-Israeli offensive on Feb. 28. Shreveport Times
- ➤ City crews worked overnight on Mar. 2 to repair a water main break and received the initial load of repair materials - the department is preparing both temporary and permanent fixes to restore water pressure safely. KSLA

- ➤ Several local high school basketball teams won their second-round LHSAA playoff games on March 3 with wins from Bossier and Shreve among others, advancing them to quarterfinals as they prepare for future contests in pursuit of the state title. Shreveport Times
