  • Judy A. Madison, VP at Red River Bank, was named the Virginia K. Shehee Most Influential Woman by Holy Angels during an award luncheon held March 5 at East Ridge Country Club. Her honor recognized her strong contributions to the Shreveport-Bossier community.  Shreveport Times

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Caddo Superintendent Keith Burton announced that Jana Panos will become the new principal at C.E. Byrd High School this spring when current principal Jerry Badgley finishes his final year. Panos, a former teacher and Byrd graduate (recognized for excellence), is set to carry forward the school's proud legacy.  Shreveport Bossier Journal

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A magnitude 4.4 earthquake hit north of Coushatta at 5:30 a.m. Thursday, marking Louisiana’s strongest quake since 2020 (USGS data). Experts suspect fluid injection from oil and gas extraction triggered the tremor.  The Shreveport-Bossier City Advocate

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development says that starting Monday, Mar. 9 until Friday, Mar. 20, closures of Clyde Fant Parkway will occur to install girders for the new 4-lane Jimmie Davis Bridge, and motorists should use the detour (via Arthur Ray Teague Parkway and Shreveport-Barksdale Bridge) during closures.  KSLA

  • Magnet’s Isabella Baltov capped a record-breaking season as she was named SBJ girls soccer All-Metro Overall MVP after scoring her 174th goal in the state quarterfinal loss — she will join McNeese for college soccer this fall.  Shreveport Bossier Journal
