- ➤ Carolyn Hardy Van Norman died on March 3 at home in Shreveport. A Memorial Service is scheduled on March 21 at Osborn Funeral Home (3631 Southern Avenue) and a celebration will be held on March 28 at Jubans Restaurant in the Hallelujah Room. Shreveport Bossier Journal
- ➤ Bossier Parish Fire District No. 1 members recently celebrated volunteer firefighter Josh Goode's graduation from Arkansas State Fire Academy in Camden, Arkansas (Training Captain Hardy and Firefighter Rodriguez attended the ceremony) as he prepares to join South Bossier Fire District 2 full-time after six months of service. - ➤ Bossier Parish Fire District #1 confirmed a large woods fire near Bodcau Wildlife Management Area — covering roughly 20 acres by March 7 — was contained between Bodcau Dam Road and Highway 157, with no structures at risk. Shreveport Bossier Journal
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Community leaders and law enforcement officials celebrated the grand opening of Shreveport Police Department's North Police Substation on March 5 at 1407 N. Market Street in north Shreveport — officials said the station is expected to enhance public safety. Shreveport Bossier Journal
- ➤ Shreveport’s Water and Sewerage Department continues permanent repairs on the main transmission line that caused low water pressure last week; crews have poured concrete at the repair site (which is curing) and will disinfect and test the line to keep the system stable. KTBS

- ➤ Pham’s Vietnamese Asian Cuisine at 3544 Youree Drive in Shreveport earned local acclaim as reviewer David Ersoff dined with friends and sampled crawfish rangoon, lemongrass chicken with egg, grilled shrimp sandwich and combination pho (the sandwich stood out). Shreveport Bossier Journal

- ➤ LSU lost to South Carolina 83-77 in the SEC Tournament semifinals Saturday afternoon in Greenville, S.C. Coach Kim Mulkey said the team missed a key foul by not following instructions (letting the Gamecocks pull ahead in the final minute). Shreveport Bossier Journal
- ➤ Bossier, Calvary and Green Oaks advanced to the state tournament after Friday’s quarterfinal wins in local boys basketball playoffs. Green Oaks reached the state semifinals for the first time since 1983 and will face Madison on Thursday at Burton Coliseum in Lake Charles. Shreveport Bossier Journal
- ➤ Local high school basketball honors were revealed last night when the 2025 to 26 boys All District 1-5A teams were announced. Natchitoches Central star Ja'Dell Demery was named MVP, with players from Huntington+Airline and other schools earning spots on the first and second teams. Shreveport Times
- ➤ Haughton coach Glenn Maynor reached his 700th win Friday night when his team beat Byrd 16-5 in a District 1-5A game; his team now holds a 10-6 record and he joins only two other state high school baseball coaches to reach this milestone. Shreveport Bossier Journal
