- ➤ For months, Shreveport’s water has tasted earthy due to high geosmin from unseasonal algae blooms in Cross Lake — a sign that treatment has been difficult. The water department restarted an old activated carbon system — which now captures geosmin and forces monthly basin cleaning — to improve quality while experts study the cause. - ➤ State highway officials say work on the new Jimmie Davis Bridge is progressing as the temporary trestle is complete (used for equipment placement) and the contractor is driving piles to form the bridge’s foundation that will join south Bossier City and Shreveport. The project also widens the Jimmie Davis Highway with brief road closures on Clyde Fant Parkway and Arthur Ray Teague Parkway (lasting up to 15 minutes during non-peak times) as the four-lane bridge is set to open in early 2027. - ➤ Dr. Sammy Wyatt—a Shreveport native and former law enforcement officer who now works at LSU Health Shreveport—announced his bid to unseat incumbent Dr. Bill Cassidy for U.S. Senate in the 2026 election. KTBS

- ➤ Danone voluntarily recalled over 75,000 bottles of International Delight coffee creamer on Feb. 21st after receiving complaints of spoilage and illness — the recall covers Hazelnut and Cinnabon Classic Cinnamon Roll flavors sold in Louisiana and 30 other states with best-used-by dates in early July 2025.
