ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • After several pedestrian deaths occurred at dark intersections from July 2025 through March 2026, Shreveport City Council and SPD officials will work with Public Works (Jarvis Morgan) to consider lighting upgrades aimed at enhancing safety.  The Shreveport-Bossier City Advocate

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Gas prices in the Gulf Coast region rose by 63 cents since last month to reach $3.11 per gallon on Monday (up from $2.64 the week before), according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration. Rates remained about 11% below the national average of $3.50.  Shreveport Times

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Louisiana’s LA GATOR program, launched last year to help low-income families pay for private education, served nearly 5,600 students while state data show that only 4% of recipients have diagnosed disabilities (private schools are not required to offer special education services).  The Shreveport-Bossier City Advocate

SPORTS NEWS

  • High school baseball and softball teams in our area will play games this week from today through Saturday, March 21. The schedule lists matchups including Loyola at Byrd and several contests at local venues, offering a busy slate of hometown action.  The Shreveport-Bossier City Advocate
  • The Shreveport Times is running an online vote for Week 28 High School Athlete of the Week, featuring fifteen non-football candidates from local schools. Fans can cast votes until Thursday night at shreveporttimes.com while sponsors like Raising Cane's support the event.  Shreveport Times
  • LSU head coach Kim Mulkey said assistant coach Daphne Mitchell left to work at Rutgers under former LSU assistant Gary Redus, which leaves two coaching openings to be filled before the NCAA Tournament.
