ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Firefighters battled a 3‐alarm fire at Pratt Industries in The Port of Caddo/Bossier on Saturday night as strong winds made it hard to control 2.5 acres of burning paper bales—about 9,500 tons—with over 100 firefighters from many units on scene and plans to stay at the site for at least 48 hours.  KTBS
  • Emergency crews responded to a fire at the vacant Villa Norté Apartments on the 1600 block of Fullerton Street on Saturday afternoon (March 15), where 26 firefighters and 13 units quickly controlled the blaze while one firefighter sustained minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital.  KSLA

CRIME NEWS

  • A shooting at Club Haze (Texas Street) early Saturday left two people dead and two injured, and police are still looking for a suspect.  KTBS

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Data from Realtor.com shows the median home listing price in Caddo Parish rose 9.6% to $213,900 in February from $195,250 in January—homes averaged 1,747 square feet at $114 per square foot. The number of new listings fell 28.6% from the previous year while properties stayed on the market for a median of 80 days.  Shreveport Times

SPORTS NEWS

  • LSUS women's basketball lost to Huntington (64-56) in the first round of the NAIA Tournament on a neutral court in Hastings, Neb., ending a 22-game win streak. The LSUS men's team also fell in an opening-round game in Georgetown (92-78) as Georgetown hit 60 percent of its field goals.  Shreveport Bossier Journal
  • On Saturday, Wossman Wildcats beat Bossier Bearkats 50–44 in the state championship game at Burton Coliseum in Lake Charles. Wossman took advantage of Bossier mistakes — 17 turnovers with six in the final period — to secure their 12th straight win.  Shreveport Bossier Journal
