- ➤ Over the weekend, PBR star Colby Yates judged a mechanical bull riding contest at the PBR Bar of Live! Casino & Hotel in Bossier City and rated nine riders on their body control—he said controlling a bull is a tough feat. The casino plans to host similar contests every few months—bringing live music from the Clay Logan Band. Shreveport Times
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Today, Louisiana will execute convicted killer Jessie Hoffman Jr. using nitrogen gas—marking the first use of this method in the state while Alabama remains the only other state to have used it. The Shreveport-Bossier City Advocate
- ➤ Shreveport police responded just before 2:30 a.m. today to reports of gunshots on Grimmett Drive—finding a man with multiple non-life-threatening injuries who was taken to a local hospital while the investigation continues. KSLA
- ➤ The Shreveport Police Department is asking for help to find 83-year-old Jimmie Christian, last seen on Monday in the 2000 block of Horton Avenue as he drove his 2006 white Toyota Camry (he is 6 feet tall, weighs 200 pounds, and has hazel eyes and grey hair on the sides). KTBS
- ➤ Shreveport police are investigating a Saturday morning downtown shooting that left four people shot—two were pronounced dead at Ochsner LSU Health and two are expected to recover—with investigators asking anyone with information to come forward. The Shreveport-Bossier City Advocate

- ➤ LSUS will host a career fair on March 20 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., where more than 100 organizations will meet with students and alumni from local colleges (including LSUS, Centenary, and other schools) to offer full-time, part-time, and internship opportunities (covering industries like healthcare, education, and government). - ➤ Mayor Tom Arceneaux praised the Shreveport Fire Department for their heroic response to a three-alarm fire at Pratt Industries on March 15—firefighters led by Chief Clarence Reese, Jr. and over 100 firemen from neighboring agencies worked quickly to control the blaze. The fire started when bales of paper and cardboard ignited in windy conditions and threatened nearly 9,500 tons of material. Shreveport Bossier Journal
- ➤ Louisiana residents must update their driver's licenses to a REAL ID starting May 7 to fly domestically and access federal facilities. They can visit Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles or Express OMV locations in Shreveport or Bossier during regular business hours—Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Shreveport Times
