  • The Arc Caddo-Bossier is hosting the Go for the Gold 5K and half-mile fun run at A.C. Steere Park this Saturday. The event offers face painting, sidewalk chalk, and inflatable games—supporting the Goldman School and Child Development Centers.  KTBS

  • Shreveport launched the Show Me Your Badge program yesterday to offer conference and event visitors discounts at downtown businesses; the initiative by the Downtown Development Authority and Visit Shreveport-Bossier invites local merchants to join free — business owners can submit offers for listing.  Shreveport Times

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Centenary College, Louisiana’s oldest college founded in 1825 and now in Shreveport, celebrated 200 years in 2025. The school, originally chartered in East Feliciana Parish, marked a milestone in local education history (with events honoring its rich past).  Shreveport Times
  • State education officials are debating if public schools need more money today as superintendents call for higher per-student funding and the board proposes a $30 million boost for operating costs — lawmakers plan to review spending data before making any changes.  The Shreveport-Bossier City Advocate

  • The Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office announced Tuesday that retired K-9 Nero died after serving from Aug. 2019 until his Feb. 2024 retirement, and his memorial service is held today at 10:30 a.m. at the K-9 Cemetery at 15639 Highway 1 + the event honors his dedicated service.  KTBS

HEALTH NEWS

  • A WalletHub study from March 17 found that three Louisiana cities are among the nation’s highest in obesity. Shreveport ranked eighth for its high obesity rate, while Lafayette and Baton Rouge ranked sixth and tenth respectively.  Shreveport Times

SPORTS NEWS

  • After a loss Saturday in the Conference USA finals, the Louisiana Tech women’s basketball team will play in the Women’s Basketball Invitation Tournament when it faces Rice at Tudor Fieldhouse (in Houston) on Thursday at 7 p.m. The team finished a 26-win season and now seeks to build on its strong regular-season play.  Shreveport Bossier Journal
  • Players, coaches, and fans gathered Monday morning to send off the LSUS Pilots for the NAIA Sweet 16 tournament in Kansas City — the team will open play Friday at 2:30 p.m. against Ave Maria Gyrenes.  KTBS
  • Former Byrd grad Sydney Moss won the Hal Sutton Invitational women's title at The Golf Club at Stonebridge in Bossier City this week. She shot a 36‐hole score of 149 (five over par) and edged her Mississippi College teammate Sofia Mendez by one shot to help secure the team championship.  Shreveport Bossier Journal
