  • Dutch Bros coffee will open its first Shreveport shop today at 5 a.m. on Mansfield Road—next to ALDI. The new venue will serve specialty coffees, energy drinks and more.  Shreveport Times

ECONOMY NEWS

  • North Louisiana Economic Development is working to secure an Amazon deal expected to bring $12 billion in investment and create new jobs in the region while some locals express concerns over transparency and elected officials remain engaged.  KTBS

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Six Caddo Parish Public Schools students from Captain Shreve High School & Caddo Parish Magnet have been named candidates for the U.S. Presidential Scholars Program, one of America's highest honors for graduating seniors. FINANCE NEWS

  • Louisiana residents are receiving tax returns this April as WalletHub compares local tax rates with other states. The state ranked 21st overall, 39th for individual income taxes, 45th for property taxes, and holds one of the highest combined sales tax rates.  Shreveport Times

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A public hearing was held Wednesday, March 18 at the Bossier Parish Courthouse in Benton on a planned Amazon data center by STACK Infrastructure (Denver-based) on a 1,000-acre site north of Benton. Officials outlined water management plans, noise controls and job projections of 500 construction and 270 permanent positions.  The Shreveport-Bossier City Advocate
  • Today, the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office honored retired K-9 Nero in a memorial service held in Shreveport. Nero served from 2019 until his retirement in 2023 (adopted by partner Cpl. Trey Keene, who recalled his gentle nature both on duty and at home).  KTBS
  • Bossier Arts Council must vacate its East Bank District building in seven days after Bossier City Council cut its funding — officials said the move followed issues with financial reporting and aims to ensure proper oversight.  KSLA
  • The U.S. Army is recruiting for various medical positions in Shreveport today + qualified candidates can earn scholarships for their training.  KSLA

HEALTH NEWS

  • Louisiana officials expect about 21,000 people to lose Medicaid coverage when new work requirements take effect next year. The state will expand outreach and use automatic verification to help qualifying residents stay on the program.  The Shreveport-Bossier City Advocate
