ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Two 18-wheelers collided on I-20 westbound near the West Bert Kouns exit on March 19 at 5:55 a.m., causing a diesel fuel spill that crews began containing with help from the Louisiana State Police and the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality at 6:03 a.m., and no injuries were reported as the cause remains under investigation.  KSLA
  • A house fire broke out Wednesday morning on the 4000 block of Marion Place in the Country Club neighborhood and injured one person—who was taken to the hospital as firefighters battled heavy smoke from the second story.  KTBS

CRIME NEWS

  • Shreveport police are intensifying their search for a suspect after gunfire outside Haze on Texas early Saturday morning left two people dead and two injured — investigators are reviewing surveillance footage and talking to witnesses.  KTBS
  • Shreveport police are investigating a shooting in the Allendale neighborhood on the 1900 block of Ford Street—near N. Dale Avenue—that left a female injured with serious gunshot wounds on March 19 at 11:50 p.m.  Shreveport Bossier Journal

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Louisiana Secretary of Revenue Richard Nelson visited KTBS 3 studio to talk about Amendment 2, which will be on the March 29 ballot—he said the plan will lower income tax rates and give more tax breaks to seniors. The amendment will also limit government growth, change how certain funds work, keep property tax exemptions for homes and churches, and add a permanent teacher pay raise—steps meant to update state revenue rules.  KTBS

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Shreveport city and business leaders approved a plan to convert The Petroleum Tower, one of the city’s earliest skyscrapers, into modern loft apartments and retail space. Louisiana Historic Development’s $30 million investment will create 117 units and re-purpose two nearby Edward Street properties—309 and 311—into parking to support a revived downtown area.  KTAL
