- ➤ The Macedonia House held a grand re-opening to expand its services for families in Shreveport—offering a food pantry, clothing closet, job and life skills workshops, and emergency financial help. Local officials attended the event to support the center’s efforts to help improve lives. KTAL
- ➤ The Shreveport Police Department invites the public to attend a Community Compass Seminar on March 26 at 1 p.m. at 1121 Forum Drive in Shreveport — with Sheriff Whitehorn hosting a session on evidence-based methods to lower violent crime. ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Shreveport Fire Department responded at 9:53 a.m. on March 21 to a mobile RV fire on W. 70th St and Engine 16 quickly performed a forcible entry and search and rescue with 10 units and 18 firefighters, pulling a victim from a bedroom who was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries—fire investigators are still working to determine the cause while no firefighters were injured and no working smoke alarms were found. - ➤ A female driver crashed her vehicle into a paint and body shop on Sunday, March 23rd at 11 a.m. in the 500 block of North Market Street—she swerved sharply to avoid a turning car—and EMS rescued her and took her to a hospital while her car and the building were heavily damaged. KSLA
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Louisiana State Broadband Office is working to bring internet access to nearly 6,500 households and businesses in Bossier Parish and across the state. Officials say construction will begin soon pending federal approval, and fast internet will reach Bossier Parish in 18 to 24 months + 90 percent of cables will be placed underground as part of a public safety plan.
