  • Gingerbread House, a Shreveport-based children’s advocacy center, received a six‑figure donation Tuesday morning from Turkey Fry Guys. Funds raised last November during the turkey fry event mark its fourth consecutive year of support for local families.  KTBS

  • Shreveport taxpayers are preparing their 2025 returns as the IRS deadline of April 15 approaches. Paula's Sav Tax professionals report that many expect higher refunds due to a larger child tax credit and greater deductions — and they encourage filing electronically and direct deposit.  KTBS

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Caddo Parish is accepting applications for its 2026 Youth Summer Work Program available for Parish residents age 16 and older to work in various departments from May 27 to July 31; high school students earn $10 per hour and college students $12, with applications due by March 30.  Shreveport Bossier Journal
  • The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act will host an apprenticeship fair in Shreveport to connect job seekers with local training opportunities; event details like date and venue are pending (official updates will follow).  KSLA

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The state Senate passed a bill on March 24 to allow 5,000 lottery-selected hunters each to bag two alligators from areas where the population exceeds 3 million, and the bill now heads to the House with a season that could begin Oct. 1.  Shreveport Times

  • Brassica Farm in Stonewall has launched Rooted in Strength, a private gym where moms can work out while their children play (hour-long sessions start at $20).
