- ➤ Damion Sherfield, 23, was convicted yesterday in Caddo District Court for the second-degree murder of Roderick Walker, 29, who was fatally shot at the Village Food Store on February 15, 2022 + his sentencing is set for April 9 with a mandatory life sentence. Shreveport Bossier Journal
- ➤ Three alleged murder suspects were indicted on two counts of second-degree murder for the December 27, 2024 deaths of cousins Tristavian and Jakeva Datcher in Shreveport—each facing a bond set at $1 million per count. KSLA
- ➤ Shreveport police are searching for 10-year-old Josiah Bates who ran away from Westwood Elementary School on March 26—he was last seen wearing a blue skull cap, blue jacket, purple and gold jersey, blue jeans, white shoes, and a white SpongeBob backpack. KSLA
- ➤ Shreveport police are seeking two missing teen girls from Lafayette — Natalie Nelson, 15, and Khloe Somerville, 16 — who were last seen traveling in a 2020 dark gray Kia Optima with license plate 302 HHV and are believed to be in the area. KSLA
- ➤ Jurors in Caddo District Court found Damion Sherfield guilty of second-degree murder after watching surveillance footage and muted police interview segments that showed him shooting Roderick Walker during a Feb. 15 convenience store incident on Jewella Avenue in Shreveport—footage that captured the key moments of the 2022 event—and the jury returned its verdict based on clear evidence. - ➤ The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office is hosting a Walk With a Purpose for survivors of violent crimes on April 7 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in downtown Shreveport starting at Texas Street & Marshall Street, and those interested must register by calling Malaysia Simon at 318-681-0870. KTAL
- ➤ Crews in Shreveport are inspecting thousands of homes for lead pipes to meet a federal rule to keep drinking water safe — 2,000 randomly chosen homes out of over 50,000 unknowns are being checked. Inspections that take about 10 to 15 minutes each will take about a year and a half to finish — workers will expand checks to whole neighborhoods if they find lead. KTBS
- ➤ Sen. Alan Seabaugh said on March 26th that the new Louisiana congressional map is unconstitutional—he argued that its design undermines fair representation and may lead to political imbalance. KSLA
