  • Louisiana Downs Racetrack and Casino hosted a job fair Thursday in Bossier City from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Red River Room (8000 East Texas Street) to fill roles in security, food service, slots, and emergency response with on-site resume reviews.  KTBS

CULTURE NEWS

  • Cork, the annual wine festival fundraiser supporting arts programs and the Red River Revel Arts Festival, returns Saturday from 3 to 6 p.m. in downtown Shreveport with tickets at $100 that include a commemorative tasting glass plus samples from nearly 95 wines, cocktails, and local food to fund arts education.  KTBS
  • Bob Dylan extended his Rough and Rowdy Ways tour to include a show in Shreveport on April 28 with tickets starting at $93 — the legendary singer will perform this spring and summer in several other U.S. cities.  Shreveport Times

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Louisiana lawmakers advanced House Bill 636 (which targets college campus hazing) on March 26 and would hold organizations accountable if a fatal incident occurs, letting universities permanently ban groups tied to dangerous practices after Southern University student Caleb Wilson died.  Shreveport Times
  • Caddo Parish Public Schools has named Kathryn Ferguson as the new principal of Caddo Middle Magnet School, lauded as the top-performing middle school. Ferguson, assistant principal at Youree Drive Middle AP Magnet (and state teacher award winner), will start this spring to ease the transition for students and staff.  Shreveport Bossier Journal

  • A proposal to name a road after civil rights pastor Dr. Harry Blake advances to the Louisiana Senate for review.  KSLA
  • Representative Timothy Kerner introduced House Bill 857 to tighten seafood labeling by targeting commingling of domestic and imported products – a loophole that has long hindered traceability for large-scale distributors. The legislation passed the Natural Resources and Environment Committee without opposition on March 26.  Shreveport Times
