  • The family of 36 year old William Richard Evans, missing since March 13 while seeking mental health care, is holding a public search party (at Bass Park's back parking lot) at 10:45 a.m. Sunday as police continue investigating his disappearance.  KTBS
  • Caddo Parish Parks and Recreation completed $1.1 million in upgrades at Earl G. Williamson Park with a new accessible floating fishing pier, shaded picnic area, and 34 single shelters, and invites residents to enjoy free snow cones today and Sunday (12–4 p.m.).  Shreveport Bossier Journal
  • Caddo Parish has completed $1.1 million in upgrades at Earl G. BUSINESS NEWS

  • Entergy will build seven new natural gas plants to power Meta's expanding data center in Richland Parish, announced on Friday at a meeting in Shreveport. The project will add 5,200 megawatts and does not pass extra costs to other customers.  Shreveport Times

  • Rock Chapel (built in the late 19th century) in Carmel, DeSoto Parish has long served farming families for worship and community gatherings. Local preservation efforts continue to maintain this quiet gem as a symbol of Louisiana’s enduring rural traditions.  KTBS

EDUCATION NEWS

  • LSU Shreveport graduate student Augustine Nwafor won the best poster presentation award earlier this month at the Louisiana Academy of Sciences meeting for his SmartKnee, a wearable system that tracks knee motion and triggers haptic feedback + visual alerts to help prevent ACL injuries.  Shreveport Bossier Journal
  • Educators from Northwest Louisiana are among the state's top educator semifinalists for teacher and principal awards — finalist announcements will come in May with overall honorees named in July at the Cecil J. Picard Educator Excellence Gala.  KTBS
  • LSUS debaters Heidi Tyler and Kaleb Schmidley won a national debate title in the new Team IPDA format at the Pi Kappa Delta National Speech and Debate Conference at Missouri State last weekend, advancing through knockout rounds and earning top honors ahead of the national championships in April.  Shreveport Bossier Journal

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Due to a partial government shutdown, long TSA wait times affect major airports like Atlanta and New Orleans — travelers should expect delays while Shreveport and Baton Rouge report shorter lines today. The Senate passed TSA funding on March 27, but the House still must act.  Shreveport Times

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Louisiana Department of Health reported that seven Caddo Parish restaurants received three or more critical violations from March 1-14. Mr. Down South Cajun recorded five violations (including rodent evidence), raising food safety concerns for Shreveport diners.  Shreveport Times
