CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Shreveport police say a local woman *Shaunlexis George Stafford* broke into her mother's home on Tuesday afternoon in the 600 block of W. 68th Street and attacked her sleeping mother and her sister with a hammer, leaving her mother in life-threatening condition in ICU and her sister critical but stable while law enforcement agencies search for her in Texas. - ➤ Shreveport Police arrested six men for alleged online sexual predator activities targeting juveniles—arrests took place from March 24 to 30—and the suspects face charges for indecent behavior, computer-aided solicitation of a minor, and in one case, resisting an officer. KSLA
- ➤ Caddo Parish officials say Shreveport residents with misdemeanor warrants due to unpaid fees and fines can settle their cases by paying what is owed at the courthouse on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.+ the program does not apply to those with felony warrants, outstanding warrants in other jurisdictions, or if already arrested for the warrant. - ➤ SPD officers responded to an assault at 606 W. 68th Street on April 1st when suspect Shaunlexis George Stafford unlawfully entered her mother’s home and attacked her sister with a hammer + struck her sleeping mother, leaving them with life-threatening and critical injuries while warrants for attempted second-degree murder were issued as she fled to Texas. - ➤ Southern University at Shreveport has released its schedule for the summer STEM Enrichment Academy for students (grades 8-12) at the SUSLA MLK Campus. The academy will hold four sessions from June 2nd to July 24th that cover 3D printing and software modeling, drone videography, robotics and drone programming, and alternative renewable energy. - ➤ Mayor Tom Arceneaux approved a new ordinance that goes into effect today to give law enforcement extra tools to address illegal squatting — SPD will launch Operation A.S.K. B.L.U.E. to target unauthorized occupancy and related crimes in Highland. KSLA
- ➤ A new squatting ordinance 18 takes effect today in Shreveport after Mayor Tom Arceneaux and Police Chief Wayne Smith introduced SPD’s initiative ASK BLUE to address over 300 squatting-related calls since January 2024 in the Highland neighborhood and beyond — residents can report incidents using Port City 311 or 318-673-6950.
