- ➤ Shreveport police arrested eight people during the March 2025 Blitz sting operation targeting stores like Target, Lowe’s, and TJ Maxx—officials said Michael Griffin was charged with habitual felony theft after 19 prior theft convictions. KTAL
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ LSUS set a new enrollment record this spring with 10,926 students—nearly 7% above last spring's count and 75 more than last fall, and it is growing in all programs while expecting to exceed recruiting targets for Fall 2025. KTBS
- ➤ The Caddo Parish School Board has proposed closing Blanchard Elementary, Queensborough Elementary and 81st Street Early Childhood Center to consolidate students with Donnie Bickham Middle School, JS Clark Academy and Atkins Elementary — the board will vote on the recommendations on April 15 and use building sale proceeds to fund future school construction. - ➤ Shreveport Mayor Tom Arceneaux proposed and the City Council approved Ordinance 18, which went into effect April 3 to address illegal squatting in Highland by giving police the authority to cite squatters on vacant properties lacking utilities—officers will enforce the law with a new initiative called A.S.K. B.L.U.E. to keep neighborhoods safe. KTAL
