  • Hundreds joined the Designer Bag Bingo at Live Casino on Saturday, April 4, for a fun evening raising funds for community programs. Hosted by the Junior League of Shreveport-Bossier, the event featured a Louis Vuitton bag and a silent auction to benefit MAGIC mentoring + the Red Apron food pantry + Artist-for-a-Day.  KTBS
  • Pierre Bossier Mall hosts Spring Family Day + Mooretown Community Fest this Easter weekend, where local organizers plan family-friendly activities and entertainment for all ages in Shreveport.  KSLA
  • The Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana received a donation of 2,160 gallons of milk — provided by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints — to serve 130 local nonprofits and churches.  KTBS
  • Community members can join families and law enforcement at the Pinwheel Garden Awareness event today from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office Community Relations Office, 1501 Corporate Drive, where each attendee will add a pinwheel to the garden to show hope.  Shreveport Bossier Journal

  • Attorney Andrew Mims will release his book, 'Don't Let the State Decide,' on April 14 to help Louisiana families avoid common estate planning mistakes with wills + trusts that don't align with state law.  Shreveport Times

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Caddo Fire District #4 responded to 124 calls in March, with crews handling 78 medical emergencies, 14 outside fires, two structure fires, and other routine calls in Keithville and South Caddo. The department's quarterly total reached 375 calls as it maintained essential services.  Shreveport Bossier Journal

HEALTH NEWS

  • A new report showed Louisiana is the second-cheapest state for childbirth with in-network costs at $7,981 for vaginal deliveries and $8,996 for C-sections; insurance and the LaMOMS program help lower out-of-pocket expenses (covering pregnancy services and 60 days post-delivery).  Shreveport Times
