COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Caddo Parish Animal Services will hold a free drive-through clinic on April 26 at Summer Grove Baptist Church (former South Park Mall site) to offer rabies vaccinations and microchips for dogs, cats, and ferrets from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Supplies are limited (first come, first serve) and Caddo residents must show a valid driver’s license to participate.  Shreveport Bossier Journal

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A house fire on Kemp Lane in Shreveport on April 6 claimed the lives of two women and a girl.  KSLA
  • On Sunday a house fire in the 2400 block of Kemp Lane killed Mildred Carter, 84, Eureka Garner, 56, and Ne’Veah Garner, 5 and left a child in critical condition—firefighters battled the flames while investigators noted the home had no working smoke detectors.  KTBS

CRIME NEWS

  • Shreveport Police Department is asking for help in locating Shannon Gilliam—an alleged repeat domestic abuser with eight arrests and three convictions—who attacked a casino employee on March 19 at the local casino on Clyde Fant Parkway.  Shreveport Bossier Journal
  • SPD began enforcing a new ordinance that lets police arrest squatters in vacant properties after several fires linked to trespassers—two people were arrested this week in Highland.  KTBS
  • On April 2, Shreveport police arrested Angela Herring and Carey Herring on child neglect charges after finding a 15-year-old girl abandoned in a hotel room at the Royal Inn on N. Market St where she had been left unsupervised for two weeks in horrible living conditions — she said she had not bathed during that time and had found food on her own.  The Shreveport-Bossier City Advocate

  • The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office and AARP Louisiana Fraud Watch Network are co-hosting a free document shredding event on April 19 from 9-11 a.m. at Sheriff’s Safety Town on 8910 Jewella Avenue in Shreveport to protect against identity theft+ each vehicle is limited to three bags or boxes.  Shreveport Bossier Journal
