  • The Walmart Neighborhood Market at 412 W. Bert Kouns Industrial Loop in Shreveport received the Helen R. Walton Excellence in Community Leadership Award today—showing its strong commitment to local service. ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • The community gathered outside Ochsner LSU Health on Monday to pray for a 7-year-old girl still in critical condition after a Sunday morning house fire in Shreveport’s Cooper Road neighborhood claimed the lives of three family members (Mildred Carter, Eureka Garner, and Nevaeh Garner) while fire officials continue to investigate the blaze.  KTAL

CRIME NEWS

  • On Saturday, Shreveport police reported that two masked men attempted to burglarize vehicles on University Drive when a homeowner discharged his firearm—striking 18 year old suspect Jamelvion Lewis who was later transported to hospital with life threatening injuries while the other suspect fled in a stolen vehicle.  Shreveport Times
  • Shreveport Police arrested (61) Roland Wayne Garner after a nearly six-week sexual battery investigation on April 4 for multiple alleged sexual assaults and he is now held at Caddo Correctional Center as he awaits his next court appearance.  KTAL
  • Shreveport police are searching for Mario Franklin after a woman suffered a stab wound to the chest on March 31 in the 400 block of Egan Street & detectives have issued an arrest warrant as he is considered armed and dangerous.  KSLA

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Government Plaza in Shreveport will see enhanced security starting Friday as announced by the City of Shreveport, Parish of Caddo and Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office, requiring visitors to use a designated entrance and check in electronically. The upgrades include metal detectors, X-ray machines—plus a new parking garage door—to match safety protocols at other government buildings.  Shreveport Times
