CULTURE NEWS

  • BPCC Theatre will present A Year with Frog and Toad production soon at its venue in Shreveport for local audiences to enjoy live storytelling. Exact show dates and ticket details have yet to be announced.  KSLA

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Gas prices reached $3.79 per gallon for regular fuel on Monday in the Gulf Coast, up from $3.59 last week. Analysts say prices may rise another 20 to 30 cents per gallon as tensions in the Middle East and seasonal demand push volatility.  Shreveport Times

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Dr. Lester W. Johnson, who served as interim chancellor at LSU Health Shreveport, is now Senior Vice Chancellor after the LSU Board of Supervisors restructured oversight (ending 25 years of independent chancellorship).   • Shreveport Job Corps center secured federal funding and expanded its partnership with Caddo Parish after nearly shutting down, and officials say it will soon resume training programs for local youth.  KSLA

  • On Apr. 8, LSWA Class 4A All-State basketball teams were announced as Wossman High’s sophomore Heaven Weeks earned girls’ top honors and her coach Otis Robinson was named coach of the year, while Brusly High’s senior Ben Radford and Northside’s Troy Jones were recognized for their outstanding performances.  Shreveport Times
  • Local Front 9 Tour helps young golfers build skills by hosting clinics and tournaments at regional courses — including Northwood Hills Golf Club in north Shreveport. The program, running since 2005, offers a supportive space for players to learn and compete.  KTBS
