COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Volunteers in Shreveport will join a citywide cleanup today at the State Fairgrounds on Pershing Blvd, sponsored by Mayor Arceneaux, Shreveport Green, and Visit Shreveport-Bossier from 8 a.m. to noon. In Bossier, Operation Clean Sweep starts at 8 a.m. at Viking Drive Substation with free lunch at 11:30 a.m.  KTBS
  • Greenwood will host a community cleanup for Love the Boot Week, inviting residents to join in cleaning neighborhood parks and streets later this week.  KSLA
  • Don William Wyatt, a devoted family man, skilled welder and veteran, passed away on April 13 in Shreveport. Visitation is held today at 10:00 a.m. followed by a service at 11:00 a.m. at Forest Park Funeral Home.  Shreveport Bossier Journal

  • Rick Rowe is exploring local history as America marks its 250th anniversary. A memorial at the Yellow Fever Mound near Oakland Cemetery honors over 800 victims of the 1873 epidemic & shows how the past shaped Shreveport.  KTBS

  • U.S. News & World Report ranked local elementary, middle, and high schools using test scores and graduation rates; South Highlands Elementary Magnet School achieved a 97% math proficiency and Caddo Magnet High School placed sixth, officials say this underscores strong teaching and learning in our district (Mary Nash-Wood praised the efforts).  The Shreveport-Bossier City Advocate

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • New data shows median home sale prices in Caddo Parish rose to $211,550 in January, up 18.2% from December’s $179,000. Single-family homes and condos also saw gains compared to January last year, signaling a competitive local market.  Shreveport Times
