- ➤ Early Saturday morning, Shreveport firefighters responded to a blaze at an abandoned apartment complex on the 1900 block of Centenary Boulevard—36 firefighters worked to control the fire with no injuries, and officials said the cause remains under investigation. KTBS
- ➤ Firefighters responded to a 1:41 a.m. call on Saturday morning at a vacant apartment complex on the 1900 block of Centenary Boulevard and brought flames under control by 2:06 a.m.—no injuries were reported and investigators are looking into the cause. KTBS
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ FBI and ICE arrested 31 individuals between April 14th and 18th in several cities including Shreveport, Lafayette, New Iberia, St. Mary Parish, Crowley, Covington, Gretna, Harvey, and Kenner—authorities say three arrested in the Greater New Orleans area are suspected of ties to Tren de Aragua, a transnational criminal group from Venezuela. - ➤ Caddo Parish Public Schools is accepting applications for its tuition-free teaching academy— a program that lets aspiring teachers earn certification while teaching full-time. The program gives fast-track, job-embedded training with guidance from experienced educators in elementary and secondary subjects. KTAL

- ➤ Louisiana law enforcement is cracking down on unbuckled drivers and passengers with the Buckle Up in Your Truck campaign running through April 27. Pickup truck drivers pulled over without a seatbelt will be fined $50 on the first violation and $75 for repeats — the campaign runs every year in the third week of April. KTBS
