ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • The abandoned Oak Meadows Apartments in Shreveport caught fire Wednesday morning around 6:00 a.m., with 24 firefighters bringing the blaze under control + no injuries reported as investigators probe the fifth fire at the property in 2025.  KTBS

CRIME NEWS

  • A woman escaped after reportedly being kidnapped, driven into an isolated area, beaten and strangled—police arrested a man accused of attempted murder.  KSLA
  • Shreveport Police arrested six individuals after a four-month investigation into the theft of 22 vehicles from Morgan Buick GMC, a southeast Shreveport auto dealership - detectives used a Crime Stoppers tip and evidence of key fob theft by an employee to secure the arrests.  The Shreveport-Bossier City Advocate
  • Shreveport police said that in November 2024, 22 cars were stolen from Morgan Buick GMC when a former employee, Joshua Ratliff, stole key fobs and recruited others to take the vehicles—17 have been located and six people have been arrested as the investigation continues.  KTAL
  • Robert Whitaker, 24, was sentenced on April 23rd to 40 years at hard labor for firing a sawed-off shotgun at an SUV on May 16th, 2020 and injuring a 2-year-old who was hit by shotgun pellets and shattered glass—he is now banned from owning guns and contacting victims.  KSLA

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A House bill drafted by Rep. Tammy Phelps will require the Caddo Parish School Board to develop new traffic procedures near Caddo Middle Magnet and Eden Gardens Elementary schools to ease congestion during drop-off and pick-up times—DOTD will assist by using local traffic studies to improve emergency response and promote safety.  Shreveport Times

HEALTH NEWS

  • Caddo Parish Animal Services is hosting a free drive-thru rabies and microchip clinic on April 26 at Summer Grove Baptist Church—8924 Jewella Avenue—where pet owners who are local residents can stay in their car while their pets get a one-year rabies shot and a microchip from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  KTAL
