ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ At 8:46 p.m. on Friday, Shreveport police responded to a fatal crash on I-49 North at King Highway when a Chevrolet Traverse stalled and its driver exited the vehicle and was hit by a northbound Dodge truck—marking the city's second fatal crash in 48 hours as the injured driver was taken to a local hospital and later died. - ➤ A man was shot in the hip on the 200 block of Jordan Street in Highland late Friday at 11:30 p.m. (he said shots came from a black sedan) and he was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries as SPD officers continue to investigate the case. KSLA

- ➤ Muralist and realist painter Eric Francis was chosen as the featured artist for the Bossier Arts Council’s Artini gala, set for June 14 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.—the event funds local art programs. Francis is known for his public murals in Shreveport and uses his work to capture deep feelings—showing the human soul on canvas. KSLA
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ More than 31,000 Shreveport and Bossier City residents lost power after SWEPCO activated emergency grid protection—mostly affecting Bossier Parish where nearly 22,000 customers remain without service as of 4:50 p.m. SWEPCO said the move was a last resort to protect power lines and equipment, and no restoration time has been given yet. - ➤ The Shreveport Housing Authority said Northwood II apartments on Grimmett Drive are in foreclosure and no longer in the HUD voucher program — thirty-two families have received emergency vouchers and must use them within sixty days to find a new home. KTAL
- ➤ The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers suspended the permit for the Mid-Barataria Sediment Diversion project—citing withheld information and other uncertainties—and ordered all work to stop within 10 days. Gov. Landry said he halted construction to reduce costs while critics warned that delaying the project could further harm Louisiana’s coastal restoration efforts. The Shreveport-Bossier City Advocate
- ➤ SWEPCO cut power to over 30,000 customers in Bossier and Caddo parishes to avoid catastrophic damage to its grid—coordinating with the Southwest Power Pool in an emergency move that did not allow prior notice. The utility has not yet provided a timeline for restoring power. Shreveport Times
