  • Two new 7 Brew Drive-thru Coffee locations will soon open in Shreveport following MPC approval (one planned on Mansfield Road and the other near Youree Drive).  Shreveport Times

CULTURE NEWS

  • Louisiana Public Broadcasting will air a new LA64 episode on Monday at 8 p.m. that will spotlight Caddo Parish’s food, culture, and history—featuring stops like Shreveport’s Municipal Auditorium and scenic Caddo Lake.  KTBS
  • The Stuffed Shrimp Festival will return downtown on May 10 at Festival Plaza during Mother’s Day weekend and will treat attendees to stuffed shrimp, barbecue, and carnival-style activities for all ages (the event is designed to bring families together from the ArkLaTex region).  KTBS
  • The Johnny Horton Foundation held a free fundraiser at Hurricane Alley in Bossier City on Thursday, Apr. 30 to celebrate Horton’s 100th birthday and honor Shreveport’s music legacy. The event featured live music (with the debut of 'The Singing Fisherman' beer) and raised funds for scholarships and a planned museum.  KTBS

  • A new three-year study from the American Lung Association reveals mixed air quality in Louisiana as Baton Rouge and Hammond received failing grades for smog and fine particulates while Shreveport-Bossier earned top marks for short-term particulate pollution but fell short on annual levels.  The Shreveport-Bossier City Advocate

  • Today, Caddo Parish Clerk of Court Mike Spence received the 2026 Liberty Bell Award from the Shreveport Bar Association for his work promoting a better understanding of law + justice.  Shreveport Bossier Journal

  • Due to a storm forecast, the LHSAA postponed Calvary’s state semifinal game; the five-time defending champion Lady Cavaliers will face fourth-seeded D’Arbonne Woods at Field 14 in Sulphur on Saturday at noon.  Shreveport Bossier Journal
  • Former Parkway High standout Will Achee broke a 50-year-old NSU record in the 400-meter dash on Saturday at Bernie Moore Track Stadium during the LSU Alumni Gold meet.
