- ➤ Shreveport police announced that Cross Lake reached flood stage and is closed until further notice due to heavy rain. Boating and recreational activities have been halted — patrols are monitoring the water and will notify residents when it is safe to use the lake again. KTAL
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A man was shot multiple times on the 8100 block of Pines Road early on May 3 at 3 a.m. and was taken to hospital with injuries to his arms while police continue their investigation. KSLA
- ➤ Louisiana State Police issued a Level II missing child advisory for 9-year-old Jonathan Jones of Bossier City, who was last seen leaving his East Texas Street home on a black-and-blue bicycle at 5:30 p.m. Friday while wearing khaki shorts, black shoes and a navy-blue shirt; anyone with information is urged to call Bossier City police at 318-741-8977 or 911. - ➤ On May 3, the Bossier City Police reported that 9-year-old Johnathan Jones was missing near Pepper Point Mobile Home Park on East Texas Street, where he was last seen wearing a blue polo shirt and khaki shorts—anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers for a cash reward. KSLA

- ➤ Mark and Mike Mangham of Twin Blends uncovered artifacts including a shaving cream jar lid from the 1850s and a medicine bottle from Bogel and Duringer below the Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce, which sits on the site of the former Jules Dreyfuss home built in 1886. - ➤ LSU Shreveport and the City of Shreveport have partnered to offer a certificate training program in GIS for local residents, set to run from June 3 to 19 with classes held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to noon—this program will include hands-on learning at local cemeteries and costs $749, with some expenses possibly covered by a federal act.
