  • Dripp Donuts & Chicken reopened on May 1 at its new South Highlands location after its downtown branch closed in April due to structural issues and demolition, offering a soft opening with limited fan favorites like donuts, kolaches & a Nashville hot fried chicken sandwich available at 11 a.m. The owners expect to expand the menu and complete renovations once SWEPCO connects industrial power, with a grand opening anticipated early summer.  The Shreveport-Bossier City Advocate

CRIME NEWS

  • An 86-year-old woman delivering food on Camelback Drive in Shreveport was assaulted Saturday night and suffered multiple lacerations and broken bones — police arrested Joe White after he attacked her following a delivery to his mother and barricaded himself inside his home, and she is recovering at Oschner LSU Health Hospital.  KTBS

  • Local designer Myron Griffing of space: interiors shared his newly redesigned Shreveport home with The Advocate on April 15—showing updated living spaces, his personal office, and his dogs Bean and Beaux.  The Shreveport-Bossier City Advocate
  • Leslie Odom Jr., a Tony Award-winning actor and singer, will perform with the Shreveport Symphony Orchestra on December 19 as part of his Christmas tour — he is just one win away from EGOT status.  KTAL

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Louisiana operates four specialized juvenile courts located in Caddo, Orleans, Jefferson, and East Baton Rouge that handle delinquency, status offenses, abuse/neglect and adoptions for those under 18—15- and 16-year-olds charged with a felony may be transferred to district court at the discretion of district attorneys and the attorney general.  Shreveport Times

  • Shreveport native Sam Burns posted his eighth straight sub-70 round—finishing tied for fifth at 17-under and earning $305,972 at The CJ Cup Byron Nelson on Sunday in Dallas. He will compete in the Truist Championship this week and head to Charlotte for the PGA Championship from May 15th to May 18th.  Shreveport Bossier Journal
  • Eighteen high school athletes from schools including Benton, North DeSoto, Northwood and others are nominated for the Shreveport Times High School Athlete of the Week award — fans can vote online until Thursday night. The contest is sponsored by Raising Cane’s, Shreveport Bossier Sports and Cosse and Silmon Orthodontics, and the winner will receive a backpack, boxed lunch combo and extra swag when announced on Saturday.  Shreveport Times
  • LSUS captured the RRAC Tournament title on Sunday while remaining unbeaten as Isaac Rohde repeated as Pitcher of the Year and nine players earned honors, boosting the team's perfect record to 51 to 0.
