  • A Shreveport gospel artist hit #1 on Billboard gospel airplay today & the achievement highlights local talent fueling the city’s music scene.  KSLA
  • The Youth Peace and Justice Foundation has set up an emergency relief fund to help Shreveport victims, providing immediate assistance as recovery efforts begin. The initiative aims to support community members facing hardships.  KSLA

CULTURE NEWS

  • Louisiana Public Television will air an episode of LA 64 that spotlights Caddo Parish’s people, culture and music at 8 p.m. Monday. Host Karen LeBlanc visits local landmarks including the Municipal Auditorium and Herby-K’s to showcase area traditions and cuisine.  KTBS

FINANCE NEWS

  • On April 29, Louisiana Lottery players won six $1M and five $2M prizes statewide for a total of $16 million that made 11 new millionaires — lottery officials urge players to sign their tickets quickly.  Shreveport Times

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office received the Keep Louisiana Beautiful Trash Receptacle Grant to install bins in high-traffic areas. The parish commission placed three receptacles near the courthouse + juvenile court to reduce litter.  Shreveport Bossier Journal
  • Bossier City officials reached an agreement with Rock Solid Athletic Club to operate the Mike Wood Pool so it stays open this summer. The city council will review the deal today + vote on it May 12 before sharing more details.  Shreveport Times
  • Mayor Tom Arceneaux held a press conference Monday, May 4 to address Shreveport’s water system receiving an F grade, and he said officials are reviewing plans to improve water quality.  KSLA

HEALTH NEWS

  • Shreveport-based a2 Milk Company recalled thousands of a2 Platinum Premium Infant Formula units after testing detected cereulide, a toxin risky for infants + the FDA urges parents to stop using the product and return it, with batches affected bearing ‘use by’ dates of July 15, Jan. 15 and Jan. 21.  KTBS

SPORTS NEWS

  • LSUS Pilots reached the championship game today at Pilot Field after scoring 13 runs in two wins. They face Texas A&M-Texarkana at 1 p.m. with the opponent needing two wins while LSUS needs one to claim the title.  Shreveport Bossier Journal
  • The Calvary Baptist softball team won its sixth straight state title on Sunday in Sulphur. Coach Tiffany Frazier Wood recorded her 400th win as the Lady Cavaliers finished a 37-1 season with a 5-2 victory at North Frasch Softball Complex (a record-setting triumph).  Shreveport Bossier Journal
