  • A rare drawing last week created 11 Louisiana lottery winners with million-dollar tickets — 10 prizes remain unclaimed.   • WorldAtlas highlights five Gothic Revival churches that locals can visit in Louisiana, including Shreveport’s Cathedral of St. John Berchmans and St. Mark's Episcopal Cathedral (noted for their pointed arches and stained glass).   • In the first quarter, Shreveport's economy stayed steady with housing prices around $246,000 and tax collections up 2%, while rising fuel costs and energy price spikes point to continued inflation concerns in coming months.  KTBS

  • Road adjustments continue at the Jimmie Davis Bridge project as DOTD enters Phase 3; the Clyde Fant Parkway southbound exit ramp to 70th Street westbound has reopened while the northbound access via 70th Street is closed until August, weather permitting.  KTBS

HEALTH NEWS

  • The LSU Environmental Chemistry Lab in Baton Rouge is expanding its high-tech wastewater testing after new deadly drug variants were detected during Super Bowl LIX and Mardi Gras in 2025. The expanded research — a pioneering effort — will include Shreveport to help public health officials detect street-drug trends early.  KTBS

SPORTS NEWS

  • Calvary Baptist softball captured its record sixth state title over the weekend as senior pitcher Kynzee Anderson struck out nine in each win. Coach Tiffany Wood said the team is proud of its season and is focused on making improvements for next year, aiming to achieve a national No. 1 ranking.  Shreveport Bossier Journal
  • At Benton High School, the baseball team swept top honors on the 1-5A All-District team as Cole Snell was named MVP, Bryson Gates earned Pitcher of the Year, and Coach Dane Peavy was awarded Coach of the Year.
