  • Donors raised over $2.5 million during Community Foundation of North Louisiana's Give for Good event to support 222 local nonprofits, with contributions collected from April 22nd through May 6th. The event received 8,708 gifts from 4,207 donors — it is now in its 12th year and has raised nearly $25 million in total.  The Shreveport-Bossier City Advocate

CRIME NEWS

  • Shreveport police are searching for 49-year-old Jason Randall, who is wanted for allegedly strangling a woman during an argument on April 25 in the Walmart parking lot at 6251 Westport Ave (call SPD at 318-673-7300) (or Crime Stoppers at 318-673-7373).  KSLA
  • A GoFundMe was started for the 2-year-old Adalynn Mae Sadler—killed in a murder-suicide in Keithville on May 5—to help cover her mother's funeral expenses during a tragic Mother's Day weekend.  Shreveport Times
  • Shreveport Police Department is searching for 49-year-old Jason Randall, wanted on charges of domestic abuse battery by strangulation after an incident on April 25 in the Walmart parking lot on Westport Avenue — detectives issued arrest warrants on May 7 and urge anyone with information to call police.  KTAL

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Sen. Bill Cassidy announced that Louisiana will receive almost $1 million in federal funds for airport safety upgrades. The Shreveport Airport Authority will use $881,000 to add 13,650 feet of wildlife fence and eight access gates — and Hammond Northshore Regional Airport will get $84,000 to fix taxiways and the terminal apron.  KTBS
  • Shreveport police released data showing that eight intersections recorded high crash totals in 2024, with Youree Drive at East 70th Street leading at 157 collisions — officers said the figures were shared to remind drivers to slow down and stay alert on dangerous roads.  KTAL
  • The Louisiana House approved House Bill 667 on Wednesday to cut the income tax to 2.75% and offer seniors an extra deduction starting Jan. 1 if a constitutional amendment passes. Lawmakers said the bill will shift reserve funds into the general fund while the Senate reviews the measure amid concerns over long-term budget impacts — debate continues on its timing and fiscal effects.  Shreveport Times
