On May 9, police responded to a home invasion on Amherst Street when two suspects broke into a house with three children present and on May 10 the same suspects exchanged gunfire on Monkhouse Drive after an argument—leading to suspect Nehemiah Tillman being shot in the hand and charged with home invasion, aggravated assault with a firearm, and illegal use of a firearm while charges for a second suspect are pending.

A Shreveport police officer, on the job for about a month, is on leave after allegations of joining a downtown street fight + using racist language in a video, according to SPD spokesperson Chris Bordelon.
