- ➤ LSUS student Abigail Boykin and history professor Gary Joiner spent 18 months researching Cedar Grove’s redlining history (part of the Civil Rights Heritage Trail project) and shared their findings with local officials; Boykin will soon graduate and begin work as executive director of the Preservation Association in Natchitoches. - ➤ Gov. Jeff Landry signed Senate Bill 70 to name a section of Louisiana Highway 1— the Officer Marc Brock Memorial Highway. The designation honors the fallen Vivian officer and will take effect Aug. 1, 2026 ahead of Memorial Day. KSLA
- ➤ City officials in Shreveport distributed flood safety tips plus advised residents to follow recommended precautions ahead of severe rain expected later, urging the community to stay prepared. KSLA
- ➤ Caddo voters will decide on a $60M bond measure on Nov. 3 to fund a new 174,000 sqft sports complex designed to boost local tourism and community events. If approved, officials say the project will cost $68 million and take two years (commission vote 7-3). Shreveport Times

- ➤ Downtown Shreveport's Petroleum Tower will undergo a nearly $30 million renovation after the State Bond Commission approved financing on Thursday, with plans to turn the 16-story building into 117 market-rate apartments & retail space.
