- ➤ Visit Shreveport-Bossier and the Entrepreneurial Accelerator Program announced six local businesses as winners of the Destination 318 tourism grant competition that awarded $100,000 in funding plus a $2,000 People’s Choice Award. - ➤ The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office is holding a sobriety checkpoint tonight from 10 p.m. until 2 a.m. in north Caddo Parish — the checkpoint aims to raise awareness of impaired driving and remove at-risk drivers from the roads. Shreveport Bossier Journal
- ➤ Caddo Parish sheriff's deputies responded to a reported homicide near Blanchard when a man said he had killed his mother—deputies later found the body of a dead female inside a house on Double A Drive at Dixie-Blanchard Road. KTBS

- ➤ The Shreveport Police Department announced that construction on a new North Shreveport substation will begin in June at the corner of North Market Street and Hearn Avenue—designed to bolster patrol operations and improve community outreach. Shreveport Bossier Journal
- ➤ Shreveport will have no garbage collection on Memorial Day, May 26—services will resume the following day—and Tuesday’s garbage will be collected on Wednesday, May 28; Thursday and Friday pickups remain unchanged. Residents needing bulk pick up can call the Solid Waste Office at 318-673-6300 while the Woolworth Road Regional Solid Waste Facility stays open on Memorial Day. KTAL
