GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Mayor Tom Arceneaux said Shreveport’s water taste and smell problems are largely resolved after crews cleaned sediment ponds to remove algae and manganese. Interim director Brandon Sneed (with 20 years of experience) will continue to boost water quality even though costly automated updates are not planned soon.  KTAL

  • The LSUS Pilots ended their unbeaten season on Friday night by winning the NAIA World Series championship with a 13-7 victory over sixth-seeded Southeastern.   • LSU Shreveport baseball beat defending champion Hope International 14-4 on May 30 to set a record 58-0 win streak — the longest in college baseball history.
